December 25-31: An End-of-the-Year Note, a Few Parties, and a Restaurant Review
Reflecting on a Year of BEW, and things to do in Berlin - Week of December 25, 2023!
Berlin Events Weekly is approaching its one-year anniversary at the end of this year. The idea to create it struck me after a night of partying, as I lay in bed reflecting on when I'm happiest. I realized it's when I'm around others, engaging in conversations and sharing experiences. I thought there must be others who feel the same way - Berlin teaches you that there's always a group like you, looking at the fetish parties in the city 🔞!
I started with 50 subscribers, mostly friends and people I met at house parties who were forced to scan the QR code on my forehead (a good tactic, right? You can't ignore the guy with a QR code on his head!).
Now, 349 days later, this small community of 50 has grown to over 4000 people. We've organized three events (Backyard Party, Pub-Quiz Night, Christmas Market Tour), and since launching our 🌐 Telegram Group 🌐 two weeks ago, two self-organized meetups between subscribers (thanks Aaron for initiating one).
Why am I sharing all this? To say that if you have an idea and are overthinking whether to start it, sometimes all you need is to take that first step.

A few years ago, I went to Berghain for the New Year's Eve party and waited in line for about 4 hours. Once I got inside, I wasn't in the mood for partying anymore. Since then, I've stopped going to New Year's Eve parties. But if you have the energy, there are a few good parties happening this week in Berlin.

1. New Year's Eve Party at the Brandenburg Gate
Celebrate the arrival of the new year in Berlin with music, stars, and entertainment at the iconic Brandenburg Gate. It used to be one of the world's largest New Year's Eve gatherings. I guess it's one of those Berlin experiences you should have once in your life! There are going to be food trucks, national and international stars, featuring around twenty live performances. There's also going to be an Irish tap dance show, Riverdance. More info & tickets.

2. Renate New Year's 2024 - 80 Hour Marathon
Renate's endless NYE party offers a bit of everything: a variety of genres, multiple dance floors and a whole host of nooks and crannies perfect for those mid-party chats. More info.

GEGEN, Pornceptual, and RSO join forces for a two-day event highlighting music, art, and sensual exploration. When GEGEN and PORNCEPTUAL team up for a party, you can expect an unconventional experience. RSO, known for its unique location and impressive sound system, adds another dimension to this collaboration. If you're comfortable with an alternative scene, this is a party not to be missed. Restaurant Review:
4. SWORD MASTER NOODLE
This is a Korean restaurant located in Prenzlauer Berg. However, it's not a typical Korean restaurant, as they mainly serve noodle soups. They are famous for their Short Ribs Noodle Soup. They make their noodles fresh on the spot, and you can see the process:
The menu isn't too extensive, which I generally see as a positive indication. It suggests the restaurant is focused on doing a few things well rather than offering many average dishes. While they do have one or two vegan options, the majority of their dishes include meat.
Short Rib Noodle Soup: Since they're known for this dish, we decided to try it. It was tasty and not spicy, but there was a lot of meat—perhaps even too much for two people. It seems they're trying to justify the price by adding an excessive amount of meat (⭐4/5).
Clam Noodle Soup: This dish was delightful. You won't find many restaurants offering clam noodle soup. The broth was flavorful without an overwhelming sea taste. The portion was generous, and the clams tasted good. It paired well with the pickle that came with it.(⭐4.5/5).
Overall, considering the location, food quality, taste, portion size, and price, we give Sword Master Noodle a rating of ⭐4/5.

Fun fact: Korean chopsticks differ from those in other Asian countries. They are made of metal, longer, and can be more challenging to eat with!
