2. Everyday Life in the GDR: A Retrospective of East German Life in the 1970s and 1980s
An exhibition on “Everyday Life in the GDR” is permanently displayed, providing insight into how East Germans’ lives were like in the 1970s and 1980s – at work, in public, and in private. Visitors are able to gain an understanding of how the Communist regime shaped everyday life, how people adapted to the lack of things and the borders, and how they created free spaces for themselves. 4. The Zig Zag Jazzed Up Jam Session
Every Tuesday, Uri Gincel selects Berlin's best international jazz musicians for a wide variety of changing ensembles, playing the music of the greats like Herbie Hancock and Miles Davies. Following a short concerts, a New York-style jam session brings Berlin's best musicians together on stage to communicate, create, improvise, and push each other to new heights. This session brings together people who have never played together before, out-of-town musicians on tour in Berlin, and good friends who have been playing together for years, making for an interesting and fun night every Tuesday.
