1. UNICEF Photo of the Year 2022: Eduardo Soteras

Argentinian photographer Eduardo Soteras has been capturing the struggles and resilience of children in Ethiopia's Tigray region since 2020. His winning photo, taken in a destroyed library of an elementary school in Tigray, shows two children engrossed in books with smiles on their faces - a rare moment of happiness amidst the chaos of war, displacement, malnutrition, and lack of access to basic necessities. The photo is a poignant reminder of the ongoing struggles faced by the approximately 5.2 million people affected by the armed conflict in the region. The selected winning pictures of the 2022 competition will be presented in the Willy Brandt House. Read more.
