July 14-20: Exhibition, Free Open-Air Festival, Standup Comedy, and more!
Things to do in Berlin - Week of July 14!
It feels like everyone tolerates Berlin’s winters just for the reward of summer. People visit in the summer, have a great time, and decide to move here, without realizing what the dark and cold of winter can do to them. So far, the weather hasn’t been on our side. But the silver lining? You can stay in and finally finish that project you’ve been putting off since last summer 🙂.

Hamburger Bahnhof presents the first solo exhibition in Germany by Colombian artist Delcy Morelos, featuring a new large-scale installation titled Madre. The work engages directly with the exhibition space by responding to its structure, light, temperature, and sound. Built from organic materials such as soil and spices, the installation reflects on the relationship between humans and the earth, drawing on Indigenous knowledge and ecological cycles. More info.

This summer, silent green presents Breathing Matter(s), a retrospective solo exhibition dedicated to the work of Véréna Paravel and Lucien Castaing-Taylor. The exhibition follows the artists’ development and highlights key pieces that have challenged the boundaries between film, anthropology, and visual art. Since their breakthrough with Leviathan in 2012, their work has focused on physical experience and sensory perception, exploring subjects such as deep-sea fishing, cannibalistic imagination, sleep talk, and the human body from the inside. They avoid conventional narrative tools, choosing instead to let the process unfold without scripts or structured commentary. More info.

Restaurant Suggestion:
Lola Pizzaiola (⭐4/5)
This spot offers pizza by the slice, making it easy to try different flavors without committing to a whole pizza. The menu is clearly labeled with vegetarian, vegan, meat, and seafood options, which makes ordering straightforward. Slices range from around €4 to €7, depending on the toppings, and most people will find that three slices are enough for a full meal. There's outdoor seating along the sidewalk, giving the place a casual, local feel. Just note that service can be very slow during busy hours, so it’s not ideal if you're in a hurry. Card payments are accepted.
