June 02-08: Breathing Concert, Long Night of the Sciences, Italian Food Festival, and more!
Things to do in Berlin - Week of June 02
I'm very excited to ⭐ partner with the following event for this edition of the newsletter. I will be there myself. Don't miss this. It won't happen again!
Breathing Concerts (Finally in Berlin!)
Berlin doesn’t get impressed easily. But hundreds of people breathing together in a sacred space, to live music tuned to 432Hz, with an overtone singer who can sing multiple notes at once? This is something else.
After 13 sold-out concerts, the Breathing Concerts come to Berlin for the first time. No experience needed. People arrive as curious strangers and leave feeling something they can’t quite explain.
“I just came for the music. But within minutes I found the deepest silence I’ve ever experienced. Like coming home.”

1. Dear Museum!
"Dear Museum!" is a performance at the Humboldt Forum that mixes movement, song, comedy, and spiritual invocation to question how ethnological museums collect and display objects. The piece centers on Nonqawuse, a 15-year-old Xhosa girl whose 19th-century prophecy was twisted by British colonial forces, and frames itself as both a love letter and a farewell to ethnological museum practice. It is performed in English, Setswana, Xhosa, and Zulu with German subtitles. More info.

2. BAAM11 - Berlin Artists Art Market
The Berlin Artists Art Market returns for its 11th edition, filling eight rooms across five floors with work from 242 local artists and more than 3,000 original pieces. It runs as a contemporary art fair built around affordability, with every fifth artwork priced under €500, so browsing and buying both stay within reach. Local musicians, live performances, and DJ sets run alongside the art over the weekend. More info.

The Long Night of the Sciences opens up laboratories, archives, libraries, and lecture halls across Berlin and Potsdam that normally stay closed to the public. For one evening, around 1,500 events let people explore real research spaces, with more than 800 of them aimed at children and teenagers. This year the organizers frame science as a counterweight to fake news and conspiracy theories. Shuttle buses connect some of the participating institutions. The program.

Restaurant Suggestion:
Briefmarken Weine (⭐4/5)
This Italian wine bar on Karl-Marx-Allee has a charming atmosphere, with cute indoor seating and a nice outdoor terrace. It’s the kind of place that works well for a date night or a relaxed evening with friends. The menu offers a wide selection of antipasti, while the main courses are more limited and focused mainly on pasta dishes. I tried the Bottoni with Parmigiano Ragù, which was very tasty, but the portion was quite small. If you’re hungry, you’ll probably want to order a starter with your main. The staff were warm and welcoming, which made the experience more enjoyable. The wine list is extensive, especially if you’re ordering a bottle. By-the-glass options are a bit more limited, with around three to four choices per category. They also serve orange wine, which is a nice option for those who enjoy it. Prices are on the higher side, with main dishes around €25 and wine by the glass starting at €9. They accept both cash and card.
