June 03-09: BEW App, Rooftop Concert, Photography Exhibition, and more!
Things to do in Berlin - Week of June 03, 2024!
BIG News Today: we are launching the Berlin Events Weekly web app (drum roll please 🥁) after a few months of hard work! The app (You can access it via a browser and don't need to download anything!) will feature more curated events than the newsletter and will allow us to suggest last-minute events or events happening in the distant future, unlike the newsletter which focuses on events in the next seven days. For each event, you’ll find a 🌐Telegram Group where you can coordinate and attend events with others in the community.
The app is an MVP, as you Product Managers like to call it! It might have bugs and might be slow, so please be patient and treat it with kindness, as its goal is to bring more value to the community.
On another note, our SUMMER KICKOFF party last night at Vagabund Brauerei was great. More than 100 people showed up, including many familiar and new faces, giving everyone in this community a chance to meet in person. We enjoyed a fantastic live performance by Sultan and Josi & Alex, along with delicious snacks provided by Kun. I hope events like this help everyone in the community feel closer to each other and encourage them to initiate hangouts and attend events together.
Here's a sneak peek of what’s in store for you this week:
🎸 Sofar Sounds - Intimate Rooftop Concert
📷 Berlin, Berlin - Photography Exhibition
🎨 Berlin Affordable Art Market
⚙️ Urban Immersion Summit
More events in the BEW App.

1. Sofar Sounds - Intimate Rooftop Concert
Sofar Sounds is a global music community that connects artists and audiences through live performances. For this event, they are hosting a live music show on a rooftop in Friedrichshain. It’s a BYOB event, so you can bring your own alcohol. You’ll get up close and personal with artists, meet like-minded music fans, and experience a cool local space in an entirely new way. More info.

2. Berlin, Berlin - 20 Years of the Helmut Newton Foundation
The Helmut Newton Foundation celebrates its 20th anniversary with the group show Berlin, Berlin, honoring the city where Newton was born. In 1979, the newly relaunched German Vogue commissioned Newton to retrace his childhood and youth in West Berlin, visualizing current fashion trends. The result was a multi-page portfolio titled Berlin, Berlin! – which inspired the name of this anniversary exhibition. More info.

4. Urban Immersion Summit
Berlin is a city of constant change, where diverse cultures intersect and shape urban history. But what makes a city? Who tells its stories? How do we form identities amid spatial changes and interpersonal encounters, and what role does digital transformation play? The URBAN IMMERSION - Society, Art and History Re-experienced summit seeks to explore these questions. Using digital and immersive media, along with artificial intelligence, we aim to understand and shape new and old narratives of urban history.
Over two days, top-class speakers will lead workshops, talks, and participatory formats to foster understanding and empathy for urban change, and to develop recommendations for integrating technological innovations with urban history. More info.

Restaurant Review:
Alaska Bar (⭐4.5/5)
Good tapas food with all vegan options. The vegan cheese and butter with bread are a delight. The staff had a bit of an attitude, especially when we asked for the bill. Maybe that’s what gives people the feeling of being cool 😎. Overall, it was a good experience.
Congrats on the app release! Good luck 🤞
