June 23-29: Kreuzberg Festival, Jazz Week, 48 Hours Neukölln, and more!
Things to do in Berlin - Week of June 23!
This week, I’m excited to feature one of Berlin Events Weekly’s good friends: Vagabund Brauerei.
Join Vagabund Brauerei at the historic Kolonnadenhof on Museuminsel for a festival of music, performance and theater. With a diverse and inclusive programme, the Hier Sind Wir festival, in collaboration with SPK and VisitBerlin, offers guests to the bar over 50 free events to enjoy. The festival creates space for exchange, new ideas, and everything that makes Berlin unique: diversity, creativity, and open dialogue. The Kolonnadenbar is open from Wednesday - Friday from 14:00 and Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00. The programme, from acoustic to Open Air DJ sets runs from Thursday. Within a 48-hour period, around 300 cultural institutions and initiatives take part in the 48 Stunden Neukölln festival, highlighting the artistic output of the district. Founded in 1999, the festival was created to reflect Neukölln’s social and cultural diversity, shaped by people from over 160 backgrounds. It follows a decentralized, open structure that welcomes both professional and emerging artists. Participants include individuals, groups, and local organizations, presenting performances, exhibitions, and other formats across the neighborhood. The program & participating venues.

3. Berlin Jazz Week
Berlin Jazz Week returns in June with around 15 concerts spread over seven days, focusing on the city’s free jazz and improvisation scene. Unlike structured festivals, this event invites the local jazz community to shape the program on its own terms. Performances take place in a range of venues, from jazz clubs to outdoor locations, featuring both established names and unexpected collaborations. The program.

You can explore spaces usually closed to the public, such as laboratories, archives, and lecture halls, and take part in experiments, talks, and demonstrations. The event encourages direct exchange between researchers and the public, with around 1,500 activities including over 800 tailored for children and young people. 5. Späti Stories - Meet Up #2
The second Späti Stories meetup takes place at Mustafa's Späti in Kreuzberg. You can meet Mustafa, hear his story, and take part in a laid-back gathering that includes a 30-minute live music set, a Berlin-themed card game to spark conversations, and small giveaways like stickers and bookmarks. Sushi Moto, located next door, offers a special deal on sushi for attendees. The event is open to anyone looking for a relaxed way to meet others and spend time in good company. More info.
⭐ The people behind the Späti Stories newsletter are friends of BEW. I highly recommend this meetup if you're looking to meet people.

6. Shared Table Dinners - Should ChatGPT Be My Therapist (and So Much More)?
Shared Table Dinners are informal gatherings built around food and conversation. Each guest brings something to share, whether it is a dish, a thought, a question, or a feeling. The upcoming dinner focuses on how AI is changing the way people connect, from offering advice and emotional support to shaping how we relate to ourselves and others. Guests are welcome to come alone, with a friend, or with someone they would like to get to know better. More info.

Restaurant Suggestion:
Vi Viet - Asian Restaurant (⭐4/5)
This restaurant is located in a pleasant square with a fountain, especially enjoyable in good weather when outdoor seating is available. They offer a mix of Asian dishes, ranging from sushi to Vietnamese options. Although I’m usually skeptical of places that serve multiple cuisines without a clear focus, the food quality here was relatively good. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The restaurant has a slightly upscale feel, likely due to its location. Prices are above average, with meals costing about 25% more than most Vietnamese spots, (between €20 and €30 euros per person). However, the portion sizes, food quality, and setting make it reasonable. The photo above shows their Starter Tapas for two. You can view the menu here.
