Mar 25-31: Nancy Holt Exhibition, Silent Film & Live Orchestra, Latin Jam Session, and more!
Things to do in Berlin - Week of March 25, 2024!
Which do you think is more important: being interesting or being interested? I've been contemplating this for some time. Both qualities complement each other and are valuable in different ways. Being interesting is helpful as it facilitates conversations and engages others. However, I believe being interested is more important. It lays the foundation for meaningful connections and understanding, while being interesting adds excitement and engagement to interactions. Also, people appreciate you more when you show genuine interest in what they say, rather than merely being an interesting person, as that interest tends to fade away.
Here's a sneak peek of what’s in store for you this week:
💡 Nancy Holt - Circles of Light - Exhibition
📟 Poetics of Encryption - Exhibition
🎞️ Silent Film with Live Orchestra
🎵 Gong and Circumstance - Live Music
🎼 Brazilian & Latin Roots Jam Session
🎤 Seanchoíche - Home- Storytelling

1. Nancy Holt - Circles of Light
The "Circles of Light" exhibition features a variety of art forms by US artist Nancy Holt, including film, video, photography, sculptures, installations, drawings, and documentaries. Nancy Holt's work spanning five decades explores human perception of the environment and our place on Earth. This exhibition marks her most comprehensive showcase in Germany to date. Holt's art reimagines site-specific installations with natural and artificial light, incorporating ecological themes and celestial elements to challenge viewers' perceptions. More info.

2. Poetics of Encryption - Exhibition
The Poetics of Encryption exhibition explores the hidden workings of technology and the impact of opaque systems on society. 3. Silent Film with Live Orchestra
Almost every week, Babylon Cinema presents classic silent movies accompanied by a live orchestra. The orchestra is positioned beneath the screen, providing you with the opportunity to experience a timeless movie with live music! This week, I recommend the following movies:
Metropolis - 28 Mar (Thu) / 19:30 (tickets)
The Kid + The Immigrant (without orchestra) / Charlie Chaplin - 29 Mar (Fri) / 19:30 (tickets)
Modern Times / Charlie Chaplin - 31 Mar (Sun) / 17:45 (tickets)

4. Gong and Circumstance - Live Music
The Humboldt Forum’s Resident Music Collective's latest concert program draws inspiration from the exhibition Blown Away: The Palace of the Republic. Music has played a significant role in the Palace's history, from its inception to its temporary uses between 2003 and 2005. The Marstall building, formerly housing the Palace's administration, is now home to the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler. Students and instruments from the university will join the 15-piece ensemble, exploring the Kulturpalast phenomenon. More info.

6. Seanchoíche - Home- Storytelling
Seanchoíche is a storytelling night founded in Dublin, and is expanding across the world. It is a night for people from all corners, backgrounds, and identities to come together and listen and engage with stories told by volunteer speakers. Restaurant Review:
Mr. Liu China Restaurant (⭐4/5)
This restaurant might not be worth traveling for, but if you're in the neighborhood and craving authentic Chinese food, it's a good option. The fact that most customers are Chinese is a positive sign. Also, they have some sort of a hotpot.
Both are equally important. And if you are interested you will necessarily be interesting.
