Sep 29-Oct 05: Film Festival, Silent Concert, Pumpkin Festival, and more!
Things to do in Berlin - Week of Sept 29!
I traveled this week during an airport systems hack. Online check-in failed, and the counter staff handed me a handwritten boarding pass. First time for me, and somehow not surprising at Berlin airport 😁.

2. Tag der Clubkultur
Tag der Clubkultur is an annual October festival that highlights Berlin’s club and nightlife scene. Clubs present themselves through concerts, dance events, readings, discussions, exhibitions, installations, and workshops across the city. 3. Kiezsalon w/ Evicshen, James Blackshaw and Mayssa Jallad - Live Performance
In October, Kiezsalon returns to historic Musikbrauerei, a 120 year old former brewery, with a program spanning experimental electronics, twelve string guitar works, and songwriter storytelling. The lineup features a San Francisco sound artist and instrument maker, a British guitarist, and a Beirut based singer songwriter. 4. The Sound of Le Boat – Silent Concert
Experience the premiere of The Sound of Le Boat by Kat Koan. Live on a floating stage at Insel der Jugend, Berlin. A houseboat on the Spree becomes the stage while the audience listens from the shore on wireless headphones. Expect an intimate waterside set featuring the first performance of a new piece written and recorded on the boat during a retreat in the Mecklenburg lake district, blending music with natural soundscapes like water and birdsong. 5. Sonic Affinities - Resident Music Collective
The Resident Music Collective of Humboldt Forum presents a concert built around the idea of music as relationships. Fifteen musicians living in Germany, each with different cultural roots, examine what belongs to their traditions, how they can play together, which voices are missing, how one idea can lead to another, and how decisions are made in a group. The audience may move through the space and form a personal connection with the sound. More info.
⭐ I’ve personally been to several concerts by the Resident Music Collective at Humboldt Forum, and it has always been a great experience ☺️.

6. Schöneberg Pumpkin Festival
On the first weekend of October, the Pumpkin Festival fills Akazienstraße and Belziger Straße in Schöneberg. More than ten thousand pumpkins in around twenty varieties are cooked into soups, macaroons, cakes, lasagnas, frittatas, and other dishes by local restaurateurs. Merchants from across Germany set up stalls offering everyday goods and gift items, creating a lively street market centered on seasonal food. More info.

Restaurant Suggestion:
W The Imbiss - Fusion Restaurant (⭐4/5)
This neighborhood spot on Kastanienallee sits beside Curry Junction and feels like part of the same family. The menu is mostly vegetarian and vegan with one fish dish, centered on Indian cooking. Fresh bread is baked in house and served with many plates, including a playful naan pizza. The Maharaja special thali at €17 (the image) offered a bit of everything and was easily enough for two. Outdoor tables make it an easy choice in warm weather. They accept cash and cards.
