September 04-10: Berlin Atonal, Open Monument Day, Photography Exhibition, and More!
Things to do in Berlin, week of September 04, 2023!
Usually, I wrap up the newsletter with a music track. But last week, I was hanging out with my friend, Zsombor, and he played a song I hadn't heard in ages, so I decided to post the song at the beginning of this week’s newsletter! The lyrics are pretty funny and share some good advice on how to live a happier life. I'd really recommend giving it a listen; it's a feel-good song!
You can learn more about this song here.
As always, I’ve dedicated several hours to curate the finest upcoming events in the city for you.

2. Berlin Atonal 2023
Berlin Atonal returns with an expanded format, covering 11 days including two full weekends. The festival will utilize the entire Kraftwerk Berlin complex, converting the former powerplant into a grand stage for the presentation of cutting-edge artistic projects. Building upon the experimental legacy of Berlin Atonal's previous exhibition, this project guides visitors through over two dozen site-specific artworks arranged chronologically throughout the Kraftwerk complex. These artworks, including audio-visual pieces, performance art, on-site sculptures, video art, and soundscapes, materialize and dissipate over time, culminating each day in a distinct performative concert-based endpoint. More info.

Restaurant of the week:
Antonello's Cevicheria & StreetFood - (Kreuzberg)
The ceviche are really good. On weekends, it's a good idea to make a reservation because it gets quite busy! They brought an extra dish by mistake, and when we told them we hadn't ordered it, they said we could have it on-the-house. However, when we got the bill, they had charged us for it. It was fair since we did eat it, but it would have been nicer if they hadn't charged us, considering we didn’t order the dish!
Movie of the week:
Memoirs of a Geisha (2005): Nitta Sayuri reveals how she transcended her fishing-village roots and became one of Japan's most celebrated geisha.
