1. Natural Drama: Celebrating the Potential of Queer Imagination
Queer Darlings is a popular spring festival series that celebrates queer imagination and creativity. Local and international artists showcase their works that deal with personal and socio-political moments of change, transformation, crisis, and transition from a queer perspective. One of the featured artists, Sorour Darabi, has been exploring the notion of transgression since their first work, Farci.e. In their latest work, Natural Drama, Sorour questions the concept of "Nature" and examines representations and constructions of the so-called female body. Through dance traditions both visible and invisible, preserved and lost, Sorour develops a kind of futuristic mythology that seeks its roots in feminist issues and contemporary environmental concerns.
