1. Orchestral Sessions Phase 2 - Works by Scelsi, Xenakis, Takemitsu, Caspi
Halle am Berghain hosts the second Orchestral Sessions with a full string orchestra and seventeen gongs. The program features works by Giacinto Scelsi, Iannis Xenakis, and Tōru Takemitsu’s Requiem, alongside a new piece by Berlin based conductor and composer Avi Caspi. Performed in complete darkness, the concert places attention on sound as physical presence and on the hall’s role in shaping it, drawing on the spatial and emotional logic of the club. More info.

2. Underworld: Abyss - Deep Sea Eco Cabaret
Underworld: Abyss is a deep sea eco cabaret set inside the carcass of a fallen whale. It follows a traveling underwater troupe led by a giant squid and a drag king crab whose partnership strains when the squid receives a prophecy and becomes fixated on the human world. As the squid gathers discarded trinkets and debris, the crab works to protect their marine home from the surface realm he knows well. The production blends live music, drag, puppetry, and performance art to present a queer utopia under pressure. More info.

3. Artists On Wheels - Bike Concert
This is one of the coolest events in Berlin! Since 2023, #ArtistsOnWheels has brought live, mobile concerts to the former Tegel Airport runway. You cycle into the sunset across Tegeler Stadtheide, passing meadows, sheep and cattle, while listening through headphones. Musicians ride bicycle stages and join one after another to form a band. Concerts take place on selected Sundays with changing music styles, and a bike can be provided if you need one. More info.

📅 24 Aug (Sun) / 16:30 & 19:30
4. Pistachio Street Food Festival
The Pistachio Street Food Festival focuses on pistachios in sweet and savory dishes from around the world. Over the weekend, vendors serve panzerotti, pucce pugliesi, empanadas, Mexican tacos, Sicilian cannoli, French crêpes and tiramisu, all centered on the green kernel. Pistachios are highlighted for flavor and versatility, and are botanically related to stone fruits and nicknamed laughing nuts for their split shells. More info.

5. Denkmal streicheln Denkmal hören
Under the project “Denkmal streicheln Denkmal hören,” artists Justin Time and Sabine Ercklentz lead sensory city walks in Spandau. On Sunday, the group moves from monument to monument, exploring bronze and stone sculptures from different eras and political contexts. The walks center on touch and close listening, with contact sounds recorded by microphones and shared live through headphones. The format shifts attention from viewing to sensing and opens a space to discuss what these monuments mean today. More info.

Restaurant Suggestion:
ITA Bistro (⭐5/5)
ITA Bistro is an open-kitchen restaurant located at Helmholtzplatz, one of the more charming corners of Prenzlauer Berg. On sunny days, the outdoor seating facing the park is a great option. The restaurant leans upscale, with a menu designed for sharing and shaped by seasonal and local ingredients. A wood-fired oven plays a central role in the kitchen. The Latin American–inspired dishes often carry a hint of spiciness. They offer a set menu for 65 euros per person, as well as à la carte options. Prices average around €22 per shared plate, with mains closer to €35. The staff recommended four dishes for two people, but we chose six to sample more, and it was nice to see they weren’t pushy. Tap water is served for free. The cocktails were forgettable, and the wine was okay. Highlights from our meal included a refreshing tuna tartare with watermelon; Summer Tomatoes salad with a zesty tomato-based sauce; a spicy Crispy Corn Tlayuda, served on a crunchy base you break into bite-sized pieces; Grilled Zucchini & Napa Cabbage that looked simple but was deeply flavorful thanks to the char; Roasted Chicken with mole from the wood oven, served with soft tortillas and a bold, spicy mole (we skipped the salsa as it was too spicy); a single large sweet corn ravioli with Goat’s cheese, sorrel sauce & nuts: filling; and for dessert, white asparagus ice cream with granola—unusual but not something we’d rush to have again.
