Jan 27-Feb 02: Flea Market, Film Festival, Exhibition, and more!
Things to do in Berlin - Week of January 27!
What do you think about the level of service at restaurants in Berlin? I was in the US for work last week, and while I understand that waiters and waitresses there work for tips, the level of service is unparalleled compared to what you get here. When I tipped 15%, I felt happy knowing it was well-earned. In Berlin, however, you're expected to tip at least 10% for service that can hardly even be called service when compared to the US! Iβve always been a generous tipper in Berlin, but after this trip, Iβm not sure I will be anymore.
Here's a sneak peek of whatβs in store for you this week:
π Transmediale 2025
π Night Flea Market
ββπ₯ Berlin Short Film Festival
π 8ight, INFINITE LOOP - group exhibition
ββββπ· A WORLD IN COMMON - Photography
π Local Zine & Bookmakers Fair

A World in Common features twenty-three artists from Africa and its diaspora, representing various generations and regions. The exhibition draws inspiration from Africaβs diverse cultures and its present sociopolitical issues, reflecting the ideas of Cameroonian scholar Achille Mbembe, who encourages a perspective that imagines "a world in common" by "thinking the world from Africa." With over one hundred pieces, the exhibition questions the dominant Western worldview, offering alternative historical narratives shaped by the unique experiences, philosophies, and knowledge systems of the African continent. Restaurant Suggestion:
π Restaurant Berlin Phα» (β4/5)
This place serves pho with some interesting variations, like udon noodles instead of the usual rice noodles. They also have plenty of vegetarian options. The atmosphere is simple, like most Vietnamese restaurants, but the food is great. Just a heads-up β itβs cash only!
