Episode 1: Langar, The Spirit of Serving
This event explores the tradition of Langar: a communal meal open to all, rooted in the practice of service to the people. Led by, Gufran, a Berlin-based storyteller focused on South Asian culture, the evening combines music, spoken word, visual presentation, and food. The session includes live visuals and features music from Sufi and South Asian traditions. The experience draws from the atmosphere of Sufi shrines in Old Lahore, where feeding others is an expression of devotion. The event concludes with a shared meal served on the floor, in keeping with Langar tradition. More info (fill out this form if you wanna join).
⭐Personally very excited about this one, as it’s organized by Kun, a long-standing partner of BEW.

2. The Art of Listening
The Art of Listening is a workshop series (in English) that explores how people relate to music through the act of listening, rather than through analysis or background theory. You begin with a short piano piece by Jean-Philippe Rameau, noting what you hear, such as sound, structure, and mood, through writing or drawing. The session then shifts focus inward, encouraging reflection on personal responses to the music. This same process is repeated with excerpts from Gesang der Jünglinge, allowing participants to compare their reactions across different styles. Attention moves between the external sound and internal response, encouraging awareness of how listening changes depending on context. More info.

3. European Arts and Crafts Days
The European Arts and Crafts Days take place across Berlin, where artisans and designers open their studios to the public and offer workshops, fashion shows, and talks. First introduced to Berlin by the Chamber of Crafts in 2014, the event features professionals working with materials such as wood, textiles, ceramics, metal, stone, glass, and paper. The focus is on sharing knowledge about different crafts, providing insight into training paths, and encouraging exchange among those working in the field. More info.

4. Cherry Blossom Festival - Gardens of the World
The Cherry Blossom Festival takes place each April at the Gardens of the World, marking the start of spring with thousands of pale pink blossoms. Held in connection with the Japanese tradition of Hanami, meaning ‘looking at blossoms’, the event highlights the short-lived bloom of cherry trees as a seasonal marker. The festival features performances, workshops, and food offerings across the Japanese, Chinese, and Korean gardens, with activities including dance, drumming, and craft displays. More info.

6. Kinder Rave: Spring Awakening
The Kinder Rave returns for a full day of rollerskating, electronic music, and activities designed for families. Held in a large space inside a former department store, the event takes place in one of Berlin’s newest venues for community-driven projects. The program includes live sets from different DJs. Kids can join hands-on sessions, a teddy bear workshop, and face painting. Alongside the main dance floor, there’s a separate roller disco area, and food and drinks will be available. More info.

Restaurant Suggestion:
Stranero - Pizzeria (⭐4/5)
This is a solid Italian pizzeria in Wedding with a good selection and reasonable prices. We added extra buffalo mozzarella to our pizza for extra creaminess. One thing I appreciated was the dough. It wasn’t too thick or heavy, so it didn’t feel like you were just eating bread.
